Who's Al Williams?

Al earned an associate’s degree from North Idaho College in 1979 while playing basketball for NIC’s nationally-ranked team that finished 23-5. He’s been NIC’s athletics director since 2003.

Al Williams is a man-about-town who’s often seen enjoying the ambiance of downtown at Brix. He loves the location and the outdoor seating in spring and summer. Just as comfortable in a business suit or golf attire, Al appreciates the "resort" feel of the restaurant. But the food is what impresses him most.

"They constantly alter their menu with seasonal entrees and entice you to experiment," explains the dapper Mr. Williams. Asked to select a favorite dish he’s able to narrow his list to three... "They have outstanding clam chowder! I also enjoy their Ahi tuna appetizer and their calamari."

Brix serves imported Grolsch beer from Holland in porcelain-capped bottles, one of the few places in Coeur d’Alene to carry it.

"I’ve never walked into the bar area without either finding a friend there or making a new friend before I leave," claims Al. He enjoys the piano bar or a casual meal in the bar area, or a first class, upscale meal in the dining room. The NIC Booster Club oft en meets in either the upper or lower level of the restaurant.

Al notes the feature of a flat-screen television tuned to sports channels allows him to keep up with his favorite Chicago sports teams.

For a people-person like Al, meeting out-of-town visitors or people-watching the walking and driving traffic with fellow locals, Brix is ideal.
