Who's Dan Malcolm?

Sales manager for Interstate Concrete and Asphalt, Dan is a life member of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber Commodores and has officiated high school football and basketball for over four decades, and college football for twenty-four years.

Dan Malcolm is a happily married man of nearly 44 years. The secret to marital success could certainly include taking his wife, Carol out to dinner often. Both have been regulars at The Beachouse for a couple of decades since back when good friend, Terry Eastman served as manager of the lake-front restaurant. Although Eastman now owns the popular Sargents steakhouse where the Malcolms frequently dine, Dan keeps The Beachouse on their going-out-to-dinner list.

A no-frills kind of guy, Dan is most likely to order a steak or chops with a glass of Cabernet, but the Beachouse is also popular for their seafood dishes and specialty cocktails. The seafood "pot" with crab legs and the works is a favorite for group dining. According to Shawn Crosby, front end manager of the Beachouse, they serve the world’s largest crab legs, imported from Alaska and Russia.

The first local restaurant to feature huckleberry barbeque sauce as a regular menu item, their huckleberry ribs are the specialty of the house. The rustic, nautical decor and setting belies the cuisine offered. As Dan observes, "The  staff and food preparation is always great and carries the signature of all Hagadone Hospitality restaurants... professionalism."

The food and the views are tied as far as the Malcolms are concerned, "The location overlooking the boat harbor and the expansive view across the lake to Arrow Point and beyond...it’s all good."

When retirement calls in 2009, Dan will have even more time to enjoy the views!
